Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork

Photo I found the clinic to be one of the best I’ve ever attended. The material was presented in a straightforward, clear manner, easy for a layperson to understand. I was totally fascinated. It was wonderful to watch an expert get results but to find that I too could get results was even more exciting. Linda Upton Read more

Masterson Method™
Weekend Seminar-Workshops
for Horse Owners, Trainers and Bodyworkers

hands-on workshopWeekend Seminar-Workshop Description

In this practical, hands-on workshop you will learn how to recognize and use the visual responses of the horse to your touch to find and release accumulated stress in key junctions of the body that most affect performance.

In this one-on-one environment Jim Masterson has successfully taught these basic techniques to hundreds of owners, therapists and trainers in the U.S. and Europe, enabling them to not only improve movement and performance, but to open a new level of communication and interaction with the horse.

WorkshopWeekend Seminar-Workshop Outline

Day 1 — Workshop begins at 9am with an hour discussion of the principles of the Masterson Method™. These principles include: 1) Different levels of pressure, responses and releases to look for, and how the use of pressure, movement and positioning causes a muscle or junction to release. 2) Key junctions of the body that are most affected by performance.

The first technique, the bladder meridian release, is then demonstrated. This technique gives a clear picture of how the subtle, and sometimes not-so-subtle process of release works. The group will then break up into teams of two or three to practice on the horses, with individual hands-on instruction from Jim.

We then re-group to discuss the results of the first technique, break for lunch, and then move on to demonstration, practice/hands-on instruction, and review/discussion of poll, neck, and neck/shoulders/withers junction release techniques.

Day 2 — Workshop begins at 9am with discussion of what causes pain and restriction in the body and the relationship of primary to secondary issues. We then review and practice some key techniques that were covered the day before.

After lunch we follow the same learning format as on Day 1 of demonstrations, hands-on instruction, and review/discussion to learn basic techniques to release tension in the mid-back, lumbar and sacro-lumbar junction. This will also cover major muscles of the gluteal, hamstrings and groin areas.

Tuition

Tuitions vary between $250 to $400 per person, depending on facility and travel expenses. Please see our 2008 Calendar page for scheduled Seminar-Workshops and tuitions.

Seminar-WorkshopsOrganizing a Weekend Seminar-Workshop

Seminar-Workshops organized by interested individuals at private facilities often have the benefit of lower tuitions through not having to pay facilities costs. Organizers have the added benefit of having Masterson Method™ bodywork practiced on their, or the facility’s horses for the entire weekend. A new level of interaction and communication can be opened to the entire barn!

Workshops can be organized so that participants' horses can be brought in for the workshop, depending on the facilities and arrangements.

If you feel there may be enough interest in your area to organize a workshop, contact us about putting one together. There is some flexibility in this format to suit individual groups’ or organizations’ needs.

We also work with commercial educational institutions that are interested in our program.
